Bridging the Silicon Silk Road: Sasemicon’s Strategic Outreach to Shenzhen
A New Chapter for Pakistan’s Semiconductor Landscape
As the global semiconductor market targets a $1 trillion valuation by 2030, South Asia Semiconductor (Sasemicon) is taking bold steps to ensure Pakistan is not left behind. We are excited to announce that we are currently in high-level discussions with two leading semiconductor equipment manufacturers based in Shenzhen, China, to explore formal partnerships and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU).
This initiative isn't just about business; it is about building the foundation of a National Semiconductor Pilot Fab and a Global Training Center that aligns with the CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) framework.
Why Shenzhen?
Shenzhen is the heartbeat of global electronics manufacturing. By collaborating with companies specializing in Magnetron Sputtering, PECVD, and Electron Beam Evaporation, Sasemicon aims to bridge the gap between our domestic R&D and international fabrication standards.
The proposed cooperation focuses on:
- Infrastructure Localization: Bringing advanced Chinese deposition technologies to Pakistani soil.
- Knowledge Transfer: Creating a pathway for Pakistani engineers to master thin-film deposition and high-reliability packaging.
- Supply Chain Resilience: Establishing a verified pipeline for semiconductor manufacturing tools to support the INSPIRE initiative.
Engineering the Future: From Prototype to Pilot Fab
Our journey began with a single PVD prototype and a vision to prove that semiconductor fabrication is possible in Pakistan. Recent experiments in our lab reached temperatures exceeding 1,100C, allowing us to master the physics of thermal radiation and vacuum integrity.
The Road to the National Roundtable
These international discussions come at a pivotal time. On January 29th, 2026, Sasemicon will join the International Islamic University (IIUI) and the Centre for Advanced Electronics & Photovoltaic Engineering (CAEPE) for a national roundtable on strengthening Pakistan’s semiconductor ecosystem.
We will be bringing the insights from our Shenzhen outreach to the table, advocating for a future where Pakistan is a hub for semiconductor design, OSAT, and fabrication.
